Leigh Morgan, NBCT
Director of Bands Leigh Morgan is beginning her 22nd year as a Band Director. She has served as the Director of Bands at Central Middle School since 2014.
Ms. Morgan was raised in Corapeake, NC. She attended Gates County Schools and graduated from GCHS in 1998. Leigh was a member of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Beta Club and the 4-H Livestock Show & Sale. She was a cheerleader and kept score/stats for the baseball team while taking Honors and AP classes. Ms. Morgan attended Western Carolina University from 1998 - 2000, where she majored in Music Education. She was a member of the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band, the WCU Flute Ensemble, the WCU Concert Band, Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Fraternity and the WCU Honors College. In 2000, Ms. Morgan transferred to Chowan University to complete her degree in Music Education. While at Chowan, she was a member of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and Alpha Chi Honors Fraternity. Leigh graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chowan University in 2002 with a BS in Music Education. Ms. Morgan began her teaching career in Camden County, where she taught high school band for 7 years. In 2009, she returned home to Gates County and served as the Band Director at Gates County High School from 2009 - 2019. During this time, she also taught band at Central Middle School for 5 years before becoming the full time Director of Bands at Central Middle School in 2019. Leigh Morgan currently lives in Corapeake, NC. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and an active member of NAfME, NCBA-Eastern and NCMEA. |
